Chapter 2 The Fiancée Who Doesn't Want to Break Off the Engagement
“Li Luo, if you don't dissolve your engagement with Senior Sister Jiang, don't say anything about other places; even within the Southern Wind Academy, there will be people looking for trouble with you.” Li Luo finally stopped his steps and said, “Oh? Who wants to trouble me?” Ti Fa Qing snorted lightly and said, “Bei Kun from the Bei family, you should be quite familiar with him, right? He has already hinted that he hopes you won't use your status to approach Senior Sister Jiang. Besides, he wants you to meet at Qingfeng Tower in two days to have a chat.” Li Luo smiled and said, “Of course I remember him; he used to enjoy coming over to me quite a lot.” Back when his parents were still alive, in Tian Shu County, the words of the Luo Lan Mansion held weight no less than that of the county governor's office. As for Bei Kun, he often sought him out. Yet, who would have thought that a few years later, after the upheaval in the Luo Lan Mansion, this once-ambitious youth eager to befriend him would be the first to cause him trouble?
Previously, Bei Kun's favorite thing to do was to host a banquet at Qingfeng Tower and warmly invite him over. Now, however, it seemed he wanted Li Luo to host a banquet to invite him instead? This fellow was indeed quite direct.
Ti Fa Qing said, “Li Luo, don’t think that it’s funny. The world is just like this. Your family was powerful, so there were naturally people who flattered you. Now that the Luo Lan Mansion has lost its influence, why should others give you face? After all, those favors were earned by your parents, not you.”
Li Luo nodded and agreed, “What you said makes sense.”
The warmth of human relationships and the coldness of the world were lessons Li Luo had personally experienced over the past two years. So he didn’t say much and quickened his pace towards the exit of the academy.
Meanwhile, Ti Fa Qing persistently followed him, chattering away like a mosquito buzzing in his ear. The central theme of all her words was the hope that Li Luo could grant Jiang Qing'e her freedom.
Li Luo knew that the best way to deal with such people was to ignore them. So he couldn’t be bothered to respond and passed through the corridors, finally exiting the academy.
As he stepped out, he suddenly felt that the surrounding sounds had quieted down significantly, even Ti Fa Qing beside him seemed to have her throat pinched like a fly.
Li Luo turned to glance at her and noticed that Ti Fa Qing's face had turned red, her eyes filled with excitement as she looked towards the stone steps of the academy.
Following her gaze, Li Luo saw a carriage parked before the steps. The carriage was antique and spacious without lacking in grandeur, pulled by four robust dark red lion-horses. On the carriage, there was a familiar emblem—it was the Luo Lan Mansion.
What made Ti Fa Qing's face flush and the nearby students show excitement was, of course, not just the carriage of the Luo Lan Mansion, but the girl standing before it.
The girl had her long hair casually tied in a ponytail, her delicate and serene face reflecting an alluring glow in the setting sun. She wore a deep blue short cloak and slender boots, and beneath her battle skirt, her long, straight, fair legs were almost enough to make one drool.
However, the most striking feature was her pair of golden eyes, radiant and pure like the sun.
That was Jiang Qing'e?!
There was a stir and excitement outside the academy, countless students gazed at the tall and graceful figure, not expecting that today, they would actually see this legend who had walked out from Southern Wind Academy.
Li Luo walked down the stone steps amid the heated and fervent gazes, coming to Jiang Qing'e's side, somewhat surprised as he said, “Sister Qing'e, when did you return to Southern Wind City?”
Although the Luo Lan Mansion originated from Southern Wind City, after becoming one of the four major mansions of the Great Xia Kingdom, its focus had shifted to the capital city, Da Xia City.
After becoming a student of the top academy in the Great Xia Kingdom, Saint Xuanxing Academy, Jiang Qing'e had also gone to Da Xia City. Moreover, over the past two years, she had to manage the Luo Lan Mansion, making it hard to see her return to Southern Wind City. Li Luo also hadn't seen her for quite some time.
Jiang Qing'e glanced at Li Luo and said lightly, “Tomorrow is your seventeenth birthday, and the Luo Lan Mansion has some important matters to discuss here as well.”
“I just arrived in Southern Wind City today and came to pick you up on the way.”
Her voice was extremely pleasant, cold yet crisp, like a hidden spring in the mountains striking against jade stones.
Li Luo nodded; he wasn't surprised by Jiang Qing'e's attitude, as he had been familiar with her for many years and knew her nature well.
“Well then, let's go.” He said. Jiang Qing'e was too popular at Southern Wind Academy; standing here, one could feel the sharp gazes surrounding them.
Jiang Qing'e slightly nodded her head, but she didn't immediately turn around. Instead, she looked at the excited Ti Fa Qing behind Li Luo and said, “You are Ti Fa Qing, right?”
Ti Fa Qing eagerly nodded, her face flushed as she said, “Senior Sister Jiang, you actually remember me?”
Jiang Qing'e calmly replied, “I hope you won't bother Li Luo anymore in the future. Otherwise, I might have to pay special attention to your brother at Saint Xuanxing Academy.”
Ti Fa Qing's earlier excitement instantly froze. After a while, under Jiang Qing'e's pure golden gaze, she could only timidly nod her head, losing all the arrogance she had before Li Luo.
After Jiang Qing'e finished speaking, she turned around, her blue cloak fluttering, and entered the carriage with Li Luo. Then, with a lion-horse's long howl, they set off smoothly amidst the smoke.
Ti Fa Qing watched the carriage leave, and after a long time, she rubbed her little face, her expression filled with infatuation.
“Senior Sister Jiang is just too cool, I love her to death!”
